YOUR PASSWORD - and the Polls

Hello - if you’re having trouble logging into your account, try using your NAME in all lower case as the password.  You can then, in the admin area, change it back.

The polls SHOULD REALLY be working now.  I changed your PWs so I could test them, so you will have to change them back.

Have some fun - Make a poll!

I have added the ability to make a poll – look for the example on this page.

TO ADD A POLL TO YOUR SITE DO THE FOLLOWING:

Click the “Polls” link at the top of your dashboard.

Choose to “Add a Poll”

Fill out the poll details.

Save the Poll.

Then, go to your “Design” link and then choose “Widgets”.  Then add the “Poll” widget to one of your sidebars.  You can edit it to make is show the most recent poll, and a lot of other choices.

Then make sure to go back to the poll you created and click the “Open Poll” button at the bottom — and viola!!

Hopefully that explains it well enough.  Let’s see if you guys can add some good polls.

NOTE: You can also add a poll to a POST — let’s see if you can figure out how.

HINT: [/poll id="2"] where the number (2) equals the poll number you want to show.  Also, remove the / — it is only there so my post doesn’t show the poll!

I Feel Like I Am Already Sleeping In An Igloo

I came across this really cool website the other day which is essentially a list of unusual hotels from around the world.  Given the frigidity of the outside temperatures here in NW Ohio lately, I could hardly bear to check out the ice and igloo resorts on the site.  But I especially liked the Dog Bark Park Inn in Idaho which is a hotel shaped like a large Beagle.   The Crane Hotel in the Netherlands looked really cool - your room is off the ground and contained in a huge working crane!  How about the Canopy Tower Ecolodge and Nature Observatory near Panama City?  You sleep in a converted radar dome in the middle of a rain forest with views of the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal.  And then there’s the Marmara Antalya in Turkey, a revolving hotel offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea.  For some reason, I’ve always been fascinated by the Mediterranean; it was always my favorite region to study as an elementary school student.  Is it fate or coincidence that my husband and kids have Greek ancestry?  I also absolutely LOVE Mediterranean food.  So even if it’s not the most interesting of the unusual hotels, I would love to stay at the revolving hotel in Turkey that overlooks the Mediterranean.  Check out the rest of the hotels for yourself, which are your favorites?  Would you like to spend the night in a treehouse or underwater?  How do you feel about paying to spend the night in prison - voluntarily?!?

Tangents Contest!

Ok guys.  I was looking through the stats today (not your wimpy stats, the huge stats program at the backend of this server) and comparing it to my Google Analytics data…  We can help ourselves greatly by adding a FEW MORE BLOGS and getting our daily posts total above 50.  Yes, FIFTY.

This would be of HUGE benefit to us all!  So, I have decided I will run a contest between now and June 1st to see who could get the MOST NEW BLOGGERS here by June 1.

Your family, your friends, random people on the net…  The winner will be the person who gets the most new bloggers on tangents — but these must be ACTIVE bloggers; who post at least 3 times per week.  So, to give time I will not pick the winner unti June 10th.  I will just end the contest on the first — then pick the winner.

#2 - Post on Message Boards
Some message boards will allow you to setup a sig in your profile.  Change this signature to something like “Get a Free Blog at Tangents.Org and Make Money!”.  Notice that “Free Blog” is a link to http://tangents.org/wp-signup.php.

You can also do it through a normal post.  If you make a *REL* post (let’s not spam here) telling people how you like to blog now and concluding that they can blog with you by visiting http://tangents.org/wp-signup.php then that is good too!

#3 - Tell People at Work, Church (or Rehearsal!)
Tell the people at you work or wherever that they should checkout your blog and that they should start their own because it is fun and free.

BE CREATIVE. 

I know everyone on this blog can get some new people.  It will benefit everyone by increasing the visibility of each blog; especially those already established.  Our Google rankings have been steadily increasing and if we get a few more active blogs going we will DRAMATICALLY increase traffic to all of our blogs.  Then we can all learn how to use affiliate programs to boost your profit far beyond the little AdWords money.
